I have written in the past about why I hate Medicare Part D. It is kind of a rip-off for seniors – especially those who take only generics.
Yesterday I talked with a man who is paying over $50 per month for his Part D plan – yet his only prescription is Celecoxib, the generic for Celebrex.
Today I went to the Medicare.gov Plan Finder and put in Celecobxib.
Here is an example of why I hate Medicare Part D:
Express Scripts says the full retail price of Celecoxib $4.21.
AARP MedicareRx Preferred says the full price is $41.13. How can that be?
And if you don’t use an “in-network” pharmacy, the price of Celecoxib is $175 !!!
Last year at this time, I was ranting again about Part D being a rigged system. I see that Celecoxib came up then as well. https://medicareblog.org/medicare-part-d-is-rigged-system/
There are over 20 Part D plans available in Arizona in 2018. They range in price from $12 to $100.
Most Part D plans now have a $405 deductible. But that deductible does not apply to generics on some some Part D plans. But on other plans, the deductible DOES APPLY TO GENERICS.
How is an 80-year old supposed to deal with this?
This is why I hate Medicare Part D.
