A Medicare Advantage report by the Kaiser Family Foundation examines the enrollment growth in Medicare Advantage plans around the country. Enrollment in the private plans reached 17.6 million in 2016 and is increased in almost all states over the past year.
A Medicare Advantage Report:
The data spotlight presents national, state and firm-level Medicare Advantage enrollment trends. It shows that enrollment among Medicare Advantage plans continues to be concentrated among a few insurers. The pending mergers (Aetna-Humana and Cigna-Anthem) could further concentrate this market if regulators approve them without requiring the companies to shed any of their current business.
The spotlight also analyzes the most recent data on Medicare Advantage premiums, out-of-pocket limits, Part D cost sharing, and plans’ quality ratings.
