Obamacare Repeal Will Hurt

Obamacare repeal will hurt 18 million people.  Obamacare repeal will hurt hospitals. Obamacare repeal will hurt thousands of people who work in healthcare because they will lose their jobs.  Obamacare repeal will hurt Medicare beneficiaries.

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) is non-partisan. The CBO looked at what will happen if Obamacare is repealed and their report is pretty scary.

An article in the LA Times reports:

In the first year, insurance premiums would jump by 20% to 25% for individual policies purchased directly or through the Obamacare marketplace, according to the report. The number of people who are uninsured would increase by 18 million.

Those numbers would only increase in subsequent years. Premium prices would continue to climb by 50% the next year, with the uninsured swelling to 27 million, as full repeal took effect, the report said.

Obamacare repeal will hurt people on Medicare.

The Affordable Care Act has a number of provisions that affect Medicare. If the law is repealed, these benefits will end:

  • Phasing out of the “donut hole”-  also know as the coverage gap.
  • Providing 55% discount on expensive brand drugs when people go into the coverage gap.
  • Changing the way hospitals are paid, saving $700 billion for Medicare over 20 years.

This is not a complete list of how Medicare is affected by the Affordable Care Act.  But Paul Ryan has said Republicans will look at “fixing Medicare” at the same time they repeal Obamacare.  Now that is scary.

One of the scary things Paul Ryan has talked about is raising the age for Medicare from 65 to 67 – at the same time they take away health insurance for 20 million people who are under 65!!!

I have written about this in another blog post: Who gets hurt if we raise the Medicare age?

Either way you look at it. Everyone will lose. I’m 56yrs old and disabled and on medicare. I’m now paying not just for myself but also for those who had no medical. My medicare has gone up 1500.00 more per yr. Being on a fixed income is even harder now! I wonder how many of those who didn’t have medical even worked a steady job. I worked from the ground up at both jobs. I worked for both of the companies over 18yrs. Our Governments have done nothing for way to long besides fill their pockets and then robbed Peter to pay Paul and we the American People have let them do it..
